I believe in a single universal health service, offering quality service to all citizens regardless of means. Universal services provided for all, and paid for proportionately by all, creates true social cohesion in society. I am proud to be a member of the first political party in Ireland to advocate universal health insurance. There are huge management and administrative failures in our health system. But there is also great potential for harnessing the skills and commitment of so many dedicated professional people. We have to begin by restoring political accountability to the faltering HSE. Fairness and equal access to the best care and treatment must be top of the list for reform.
