I believe that our city and our neighbourhoods will best be served through an enhanced public transport system, that allows for integrated ticketing and better interchanges. As a daily cyclist I strongly support initiatives that encourage more cycling and walking as green alternatives to the use of the car. Economic realities will inevitably delay the development of new large public transport projects but we should maintain these plans as priorities for the future, and as real opportunities for boosting employment in the medium term. Meanwhile, we can do a lot to improve bus services, including the introduction of new routes where necessary, such as shuttle services to the LUAS lines from areas such as Rathfarnham and Ballyboden.
